Illinois Watch Co., Springfield, Illinois, a private label, gold pocket watch 18 size, 15 jewels, key wind and set, damascened nickel plate movement, with lever escapement, marked "Governor Boston", in a 14 karat, yellow gold, hinged back and bezel, reeded edge, engine turned open face case, Roman numeral, double sunk white enamel dial, blued steel tulip hands, serial #210434, 123.3g TW, c1880.
CONDITION:
CASE: Two shallow dents, back; Fine scratches on outer surface of case; Fine scratches on inner surface of case; Engine turning with moderate wear; Crystal with minor scratches; Bow worn; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Hairlines in enamel, light; Chip in enamel concealed by bezel, 1:00; Seconds bit with loss at bottom. HANDS: Loss to bluing. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor marks and scratches on plate; Some screws with oxide. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), click slipping.
